The BNO085 is a 9-degree-of-freedom IMU from Hillcrest/Ceva (the IMU IP originally Bosch BNO055, now licensed to CEVA). On-chip sensor fusion produces a stable quaternion at ~100 Hz without external compute.

Why it’s useful
The on-chip fusion outputs a stable orientation quaternion that’s directly consumable — no external Mahony / Madgwick filter needed. Useful as a backup to EKF3 or as a primary source in setups where EKF3 isn’t running.
